On display until July 31 at MAC – Museu de Arte Contemporânea do Paraná (temporarily occupying the Oscar Niemeyer Museum in Curitiba), the group show “Insólito” – curated by Pollyanna Quintella – addresses the “uncommon” through the eyes of 5 guest artists: Daniel Acosta, Mano Penalva, Maya Weishof, Tony Camargo and Washington Silvera, who bring toghether works in dialogue with the museum’s collection. In common, the works reveal the translation of the invisible, the interpretation out of the standard and the obviousness of what the image and an object represent.
.
Represented by Portas Vilaseca, Mano Penalva presents 4 works developed in different formats, among them, “Untitled“, part of his series “Samba“. The work is displayed alongside “Anti-caixa” (1978), an iconic and awarded work by artist Solange Escosteguy (also represented by the gallery), which is part of the MAC’s collection (see gallery below).
.
Also included in the show, are Penalva’s following works: “Namoradeira” (2021), “Unidade V“, from the series “Módulos” (2017) and the object “Forró” (2020).
