In the context of his solo exhibition “A kind of hole”, on display at the gallery until Saturday (17), artist Gabriel Secchin presents on Thursday (15) the action “Ócio da Terra” – a musical performance of approximately 50 minutes that emerges from an authorial soundtrack gradually composed during the process of developing the paintings for the show.
The sound piece – whose title includes a mention and reverence to Milton Nascimento’s song “O Cio da Terra” – seeks to evoke an atmosphere that mixes melancholy and morbidity with affective memories and introspection, something also present in the recent pictorial production of the Rio de Janeiro born and based artist. In this action, Secchin will reverberate low notes, however plaintive and lonely, from a single guitar, creating a paradoxically immersive, sleepy and abrasive environment.
