“CROSSROADS OF AFRO-BRAZILIAN ART” BRINGS TOGETHER 60 ARTISTS AT CCBB-SP

Featuring 150 works produced by more than 60 artists from different periods and regions of the country, São Paulo’s Banco do Brasil Cultural Center opens today the exhibition “Encruzilhadas da Arte Afro-Brasileira” [ Crossroads of Afro-Brazilian Art ] – curated by Deri Andrade.

The group show is the result of the Projeto Afro‘s mapping and is divided into five sectors – based on central names in Afro-Brazilian art: Arthur Timótheo da Costa, Maria Auxiliadora, Rubem Valentim, Mestre Didi and Lita Cerqueira.

Five artists represented by Portas Vilaseca participate in the exhibition. Gustavo Nazareno exhibits his painting “A Coroação do Arraial” – especially commissioned for this project. Artists Kika Carvalho, Mulambo, Pedro Neves and Silvana Mendes also display works taken from their most recent production (see gallery below).

The exhibition runs until March 18, 2024 and admission is free. Don’t miss it!
