Artists Nádia Taquary and Mulambö are taking part in the group exhibition “Lélia in us: popular festivities and amefricanity“, on view at Sesc Vila Mariana, in São Paulo. The exhibition is based on the book “Popular festivities in Brazil” by the thinker, anthropologist and leader of the Brazilian black movement Lélia Gonzalez. Focusing on Afro-Brazilian festivities, guest curators Glaucea Britto and Raquel Barreto have selected historical and contemporary art works in different media such as photography, painting, performance, installation, video, among others.
The pictures gallery below highlights Taquary‘s sculpture “Omi Afẹfẹ“, especially commissioned for this project; as well as the polyptych “Anel de Bamba I“, a set of paintings on cardboard conceived by Mulambö.
