NEW REPRESENTATION: ANTONIO PICHILLÁ

We are pleased to announce the commercial representation of Guatemalan artist Antonio Pichillá.

Originally from the Maya Tz’utujil people, his artistic work encompasses various forms of expression, including textile art, painting, video and installation. With a focus on collective experiences and actions, his research is deeply rooted in the culture and symbols of his community, located near Lake Atitlan in Guatemala. Graduated from the Rafael Rodríguez Padilla National School of Fine Arts.

Recent group exhibitions include: To Weave the Sky: Textile Abstractions, El Espacio 23, Miami, USA; Unravel: The Power and Politics of Textiles in Art. Barbican Centre, London, UK; Threads of The South, curated by Anna Burckhardt Pérez, The Institute for Studies on Latin American Art ISLAA, New York, USA; Myth Makers, HATCH Gallery, Milan, Italy, among others.

His latest solo show – In front of the Lake – was presented last year at the Elizabeth Xi Bauer Gallery in London, UK. More recently, in Brazil, the artist took part in the 22nd Sesc_Videobrasil Biennial – “Memory is an editing station” – curated by Raphael Fonseca and Renée Akitelek Mboya (on view at Sesc 24 de Maio, in São Paulo, from October 2023 to February 2024).

His works are part of important institutional collections around the world, including: Museo Reina Sofía, Madrid, Spain; Denver Art Museum, Denver, USA; Tate Modern, London, UK; Colección Banco de España, Madrid, Spain; Institute for Studies on Latin American Art – ISLAA New York, USA.
