26.09 – 01.09.2024
“Saquarema“, Mulambö‘s new solo show, opens this Tuesday, 24 September [starting at 5 pm], at Portas Vilaseca Galeria in Rio de Janeiro.
Featuring a critical text by Tiago Sant’Ana, the exhibition brings together around 30 works that arise from the deep connection between Mulambö, his family and the city of Saquarema, especially Praia da Vila, where the artist lives and works. Exploring themes such as memory, tradition and collectivity, always in dialogue with the sea, faith and the environment present in these works and stories, “Saquarema” affirms Mulambö as an artist rooted in a territory that is both physical and symbolic – fundamental and structuring for the trajectory of the artist and his family.
Five years after his first solo show, Mulambö presents himself in a more raw, personal and open way, but also with lightness and honesty. In this sense, the exhibition conveys the sensation of a deep dive into the Atlantic-green waters of the Praia da Vila sea.
