Portas Vilaseca Galeria group show for this edition of arteBA includes three of our represented artists – Carolina Martinez, Gabriel Secchin and Pedro Victor Brandão –, all of them bringing a powerful production in painting which has been extended to include also assemblages, photography and wall installation.
Carolina Martinez has developed a new set of works from her series “Perimeters”, in which she displays a fraction of a continuous space through abstract paintings seen from an architectural perspective.
Gabriel Secchin presents the series “In the name of the sacred, do not feed the bad news mail”, in which he outlines a sense of conflict between an unstable state of mind and its unsettling surroundings amidst current issues, such as historical revisionism, war of narratives and conspiracy theories.
Pedro Victor Brandão brings together six series of works that address different political scenarios within his researches on economics, the right to the city, cybernetics and the current manipulable nature of the technical image. Among them, we highlight “Totalities”, a series of paintings that reflect on capital accumulation regimes, including trade balances between countries, asset valuations and concentration of income from a wide variety of public data. The sides of the paintings hold the key for a complete reading.
