Friday! It’s day to download another publication of one of our artists in PDF. The copy arriving today in our virtual library is the catalogue of the exhibition “Thus – Enjoy the Silence”, the first solo show of artist Ramonn Vieitez in Rio de Janeiro, which took place at Portas Vilaseca’s former space in 2015. On the following year (2016), the same exhibition was presented at Museu do Homem do Nordeste, in Recife, where Vieitez lives and works. With critical essays by Bernardo Mosqueira and Raphael Fonseca, the catalog highlights the 13 oil paintings and 2 serigraphs produced by the artist between 2013 and 2015. Based on an inventive discursive strategy driven by mystery and doubt, these works seem to suggest more questions than assurances – Who is this? What did he do or what will he do? Why are you like this? What place is this? According to the curator of the show, Bernardo Mosqueira, “if loneliness, anguish and abandonment shape the fundamental tripod of the narcissistic personality of our time, we are disoriented in looking for ways to locate ourselves in urban cartographies”.
