The exhibition “Footnotes for a triangular cartography” – by our represented artist Ana Hupe – is on display at Bernau Galerie in Berlin. The show is part of the program “Heimat, Herz, Orte” and it connects the knowledge of invisible encounters that the artist experienced in residences in the cities of Salvador (Brazil), Havana (Cuba), and also in some sacred cities for the Yoruba people in Nigeria.
In this historical triangulation, Hupe displays her works as pieces of a puzzle that do not fit harmoniously and that reveal a certain phantasmagoria of a violent colonial past; cracks between the known and the unknown. The proposed dialogues intend to create a kind of cosmopolitics that free the invisible – what has been forgotten or disregarded. The crossroads as fields of possibilities and the trance as an availability for crossing.
The exhibition continues until 31 July. For more information, visit: www.galerie-bernau.de
