Based in Berlin, our represented artist Ana Hupe participates in the exhibition project “Südstellium“, which presents artistic interventions in a subway station in the city.
Alongside another two Brazilian artists, Barbara Marcel and Matheus Rocha Pitta, they have taken panels located on the platforms of the U1 Kottbusser Tor station, through which they are displaying posters with “messages” from the sky in Brazil.
“Stellium” is an astronomical term that means a series of continuous conjunctions between planets. “Südstellium” is a new word incorporating geopolitical issues within these celestial measurements that reflect on a cultural cartography of the Global South.
The artists developed their works collaboratively with other cultural agents from Brazil. Ana Hupe worked with Maria de Lourdes da Silva and 3 artists from the Quilombo “Conceição das Crioulas”, located in the Brazilian state of Pernambuco.
On the pictures gallery below, details of the work, which presents a collage of an embroidery produced collectively and images of the sky, from the perspective of the artist’s studio. The project runs until 10 May.
