ARTE+CARE #2 – ÍRIS HELENA OPENS SECOND CYCLE OF THE PROGRAM WITH SERIES “CASA CONJUGADA” (SEMI-DETACHED HOUSE)

Kicking off cycle #2 of our ARTE+CARE program, the artist Íris Helena presents the new series Casa Conjugada (“Semi-detached House”), a development of her research on architecture, ruins and the history of the formation of Brazilian cities. Through remnants extracted from the walls of different houses, a  ‘constellation’ of cities appears as a map. Within these studies and collections of images of Brazilian houses, the artist selected a group of 20 semi-detached houses – from various periods and architectural styles – in which the same wall joins two identical or different buildings.

Part of the sales of these works will benefit another relevant initiative of public interest in the fields of culture, health and primary care. For this second cycle, we chose to support TOGETHER AGAINST COVID-19, an initiative coordinated by the NGO Move Rio, in partnership with other organizations, to help families from different communities throughout the city of Rio de Janeiro who do not have resources and need to stay home during this period of social isolation. The action is run by donations and distribution of basic-needs grocery packages, personal hygiene items and cleaning products.

On the following weeks, joining cycle #2, artists Raquel Nava, Ana Hupe and Carolina Martinez will participate bringing new works.

ARTE+CARE is a program to support our artists and to help people and organizations with relevant actions and projects in the fields of culture, health and primary care. Series of unpublished works at affordable prices (ranging from USD 250 to USD 900 each) were developed exclusively by our represented artists for the program, and each month, part of the sales will be donated to a different initiative.
