ARTE+CARE #2 – RAQUEL NAVA PRESENTS A NEW SERIES OF DRAWINGS

Continuing cycle #2 of our ARTE+CARE program, we bring this week a set of new drawings on paper by artist Raquel Nava.

In this new series, named Endocrinoides, Nava sought inspiration in the human endocrine system, which brings to mind her interest in animal anatomy and also recalls her previous practice in pastel. Unlike her research on taxidermy, which sparks a more social and political reflection, in this series, intuition takes over, giving prominence to form and a kind of “wild” materiality. Something that, unconsciously, ends up establishing a relationship with other works by the artist.

ARTE+CARE is a program to support our artists and to help people and organizations with relevant actions and projects in the fields of culture, health and primary care. Series of unpublished works at affordable prices (ranging from USD 250 to USD 900 each) were developed exclusively by our represented artists for the program, and each month, part of the sales will be donated to a different initiative.

For this second cycle, we are supporting TOGETHER AGAINST COVID-19, an initiative coordinated by the NGO Move Rio, in partnership with other organizations, to help families from different communities throughout the city of Rio de Janeiro who do not have resources and need to stay home during this period of social isolation. The action is run by donations and distribution of basic-needs grocery packages, personal hygiene items and cleaning products. More information at: www.juntoscontracovid.com.br

On the following weeks, joining cycle #2, artists Ana Hupe and Carolina Martinez will participate bringing new works. Cycle #3 will start in July with a new group of artists and a new initiative assisted by the program, and so on. Stay tuned on our online channels!
