The painting “Desenho de Luz” – by artist Arthur Palhano – has been specially commissioned to take part in “Object Subject“, a long-term group show recently opened at the Museu Paranaense – MUPA, in Curitiba, PR. The exhibition brings together works by 12 contemporary Brazilian artists in dialogue with the institution’s historical collection.
With the aim of creating new narratives about the local and national past – and based on their relationships with items in the collection – art works in different expressions trigger themes such as the museum institution, the transformation of the landscape , symbolist literature, environmental exploration, sports and politics.
The exhibition is curated by Pollyana Quintella, Felipe Vilas Bôas and Richard Romanini. Also taking part in the show are artists Clara Moreira, C. L. Salvaro, Érica Storer, Frederico Filippi, Gustavo Magalhães, Gustavo Caboco, Isis Gasparini, Josi Souza, Laryssa Machada, Pedro França e Willian Santos.
At the end of the exhibition period, Palhano’s work will become part of MUPA’s institutional collection.
