Deborah Engel proposes in her research a reinvention of contemplation, taking as interest issues related to expanded photography, experimentation with perspective and framing, and kineticism. In this way, the artist broadens the function of photography as a mere capture of reality, reaffirming its provocative and questioning nature in the contemporary art realm. Engel produces reliefs that, seen from the front, are still perceived as a plan, but when triggered, they promote an experience as poetic as instinctive of the apprehension of the real, almost cinematic. Her unique work invites the viewer's gaze to "dive" into the three-dimensionality of the image, making it return to the surface again, in a kind of continuous breathing movement.
