Our represented artists Ayrson Heráclito and Mulambö take part in an exhibition, which embodies the project “Sal 60“, a multimedia platform looking over the aesthetic and narrative innovations that the samba school Academicos do Salgueiro achieved with Arlindo Rodrigues, Fernando Pamplona and Nilton Sá from 1960 to 1971 – a period known as “Salgueiro’s Revolution”, when the first themes on black heritage in Brazil were developed by the samba schools in Rio de Janeiro, such as “Quilombo dos Palmares” (1960), “Xica da Silva” (1963), “Chico Rei” (1964) and “Bahia de Todos os Deuses” (1969).
The project comes out to preserve the memory of this event, gathering in a virtual show some visual documentation of the parades – connected with works by contemporary artists -, as well as statements and critical essays on this important movement in the Brazilian Carnival.
Ayrson Heráclito participates in the show with the works “Odé com Ofá“, from the series “Banhistas” (2007) and “Barrueco Colar” (2005), highlighted in this post. On the other hand, Mulambö presents a couple of digital illustrations in honor of some founders and legends of the samba school. Don’t miss it!
