CRÔNICAS CARIOCAS BRINGS TOGETHER MORE THAN 100 ARTISTS TO MUSEU DE ARTE DO RIO

Opening today at Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR)Crônicas Cariocas“, a new long-term exhibition dedicated to Rio de Janeiro. The show aims to listen to the city in its behavior and essence, in the meetings on the sidewalks, in the singing of the criers, in the relations with the neighbourhood, in the daily life beyond all adversity. The city of the crossroads and its pagan gods, the gypsies, the “malandros”, the celebrations of praise and syncretism.

Curated by Marcelo Campos and Amanda Bonan (from the MAR team) with guest curators Conceição Evaristo and Luiz Antônio Simas, the exhibition occupies three major galleries in the museum, displaying 600 works by more than 100 artists. Portas Vilaseca Galeria has four of its represented artists with works selected for the show.

Featured in the gallery below, a special album with a selection of works by Kika Carvalho, Rafael Baron, Mulambö and Claudia Hersz thar are in the show and in connection with the city and with its little everyday stories.
