Friday! It’s day to download another publication of one of our artists in PDF. The copy arriving today in our virtual library is the bilingual catalogue of the show “Transborda Brasília – Contemporary Art Award”, which brought together 12 artists selected by a jury composed by Agnaldo Farias (SP), Clarissa Diniz (PE-RJ), Guga Carvalho (PI), Lisette Lagnado (RJ) and Marilia Panitz (DF), in an exhibition held in 2018 at Caixa Cultural Brasília. The prize is an overview of the production of artists who live in and around Brasilia, comprising what we know as the Federal District. Among the 4 winners of this edition, is Raquel Nava – artist represented by Portas Vilaseca Galeria –, who presented the series “Paleta”, a development of a residency project done at the University of Brasilia Veterinary Anatomy Museum, which displays Nava’s formal and conceptual choices. According to curator Yana Tamayo, who followed her process during the residency, “from a pictorial perspective and from the use of chromatic palettes that are not melancholic at all, the artist organizes her compositions with organic and inorganic materials that play with our conscience about the way we keep ourselves alive and continue fearing death”.
