At the end of her participation in the Pé-Vermelho Residency Program – based in Planaltina (DF) – artist Íris Helena presents the result of her experience in an exhibition held at the residency space. The works produced during the period emerge from a research started in 2018, which links the labor relations and the construction of Brasília. At this stage, Helena investigates the displacement of workers from the Plano Piloto area (where the federal capital was originally planned), which gave rise to several new cities around it, as is the case of Planaltina. The works are based on images from local public archives and on materials and exchanges with local civil construction workers.
Pé Vermelho is a space for the formation, production and promotion of the arts with a focus on the production of non-Southeastern and people who live and work in the Midwest of Brazil. This cycle of residencies also hosted artist Luciana Paiva, who take part in the same show, which runs until April 9. More info on the space’s Instagram profile: @pevermelhoec ✨
