In our 10th participation in the fair, we present three simultaneous projects.
At Pavilhão Terra (stand B9), we bring together a selection of works by represented and guest artists that cover multiple languages, techniques and supports. The booth plan will be guided by the presence of layers that reveal a materiality in movement and transformation, crossing borders between the ethereal and the mundane, between the natural and the cultural. The idea is to offer the public the opportunity to delve into different perspectives and also glimpse the present in new lights.

For the Solo Program, curated by Ademar Britto, we developed a special project featuring new oil paintings by artist Kika Carvalho (stand S5). In this new body of works, we notice the artist’s concern on claiming her own imagery and path in the history of painting, through an accurate technique and a striking palette of colors. Her intimate poetics is crossed by questions that involve the construction of the individual based on culture and also the processes of identification of what it is to be a black person in contemporary times.

Finally, in the external area, we present “Chorando Pitangas“, a monumental work in carved wood developed by artist Zé Carlos Garcia. Garcia’s work is the result of a cultural amalgamation and the mixing of peoples that forge Brazil. Objects and features conceived by the artist can refer either to elements of African-based religiosity, indigenous culture, or Portuguese colonialism.
