The exhibition of the 1st. Contemporary Art Salon of Goiás is on display and it runs until Ocotber at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC – GO), located in the capital city of Goiânia.
See on the gallery below some pictures taken from the show, which has the participation of Paraíba-born and Brasília-based artist, Íris Helena, represented by Portas Vilaseca Galeria. Selected to take part in this 1st edition, Íris’ practice is guided by a dialectical tension between destruction and construction, memory and forgetfulness, present / past / future.
Two works are displayed in the show: “Diálogo (Lonalândia)“, 2018; and “Livro do Tombo“, 2019. Featuring UV photographic prints on unusual supports, such as construction easels and siding timbers, both works emerge from a series that delve into the construction of the country’s capital city, taking the taking the migrant labor as a viewpoint.
In addition to the 15 selected artists, another 18 were nominated by regional curators. According to chief curator Paulo Henrique Silva, the project presents itself as an instrument for the reintegration of Goiás and the city of Goiânia into the institutional circuit of Brazilian contemporary art.
