Our represented artist Mano Penalva presents his work “Centopéia” (2019) in the collective exhibition “al pie de un volcán“, promoted by the Mexican platform LLANO. Running until May 1st in Mexico City, the show brings together 14 Latin-American artists whose works deal with the reconstruction of the world and the new paths that can be established after the chaos.
“Centopéia” (Centipede) was also featured in the exhibition “Casa de Andar”, Penalva’s last solo show at Portas Vilaseca Galeria in 2019. Endowed with intimacy and strangeness, this collective body of cups somehow remodels the original function of the objects.
Also participating are artists Gabriel Alonso, Lorena Ancona, Ramiro Chaves, Débora Delmar, Mario García Torres, Amir Guberstein, Enrique López Llamas, Elsa-Louise Manceaux, Noe Martínez, Natalia Ramos, Oscar Santillán, María Sosa and Tania Ximena.

LLANO is a Mexican platform aimed at artists whose production is based on long-term research processes and whose body of work is linked to science, history, technology, forgotten knowledge and invisible communities. LLANO emphasizes knowledge and research processes, creates links and encourages approaches and learning around the work, seeks to displace the viewer, taking them beyond the daily experience of traditional exhibition formats.
