The work “Bang Bang“, by Mano Penalva, is one of the highlights of the exhibition “Last Days of a House“, on display at Emerson Dorsch Gallery,in Miami (USA), within the programming of the II Fountainhead Biennial.
The group show is curated by Omar López-Chahoud and features the participation of 20 artists whose works are symbolically connected with a poem by Cuban writer Dulce María Loynaz, which gives the exhibition its title and is narrated from the perspective of a house.
The house’s vocabulary – mainly the Brazilian one, with its repertoires and traditions – is an important issue in Penalva’s research, as well as the likely combinations between the public and the private. The artist skillfully created objects with a strong visual impact that contain both intimacy and strangeness.
With the support of Portas Vilaseca, “Bang Bang” is on view until September, 30th.
The Fountainhead Biennial was launched in 2021 with the aim of boosting Miami’s art scene by promoting works of artists from different countries who have taken part in the Fountainhead Residency.
