We are happy to announce the participation of artists Ismael Monticelli, Randolpho Lamonier and Zé Carlos Garcia, all represented by Portas Vilaseca, in the 14th edition of the Mercosul Biennial, curated by Raphael Fonseca and co-curated by Tiago Sant’Ana e Yina Jimenez Suriel.
With the curatorial concept ‘Estalo‘ (Snap), the Biennial takes place in Porto Alegre (RS) between March and June 2025, proposing a dive into the idea of transformation. In the snap of a finger, the world around us is transformed, whether silently or noisily. The exhibition will occupy 18 cultural spaces in the city, bringing together 76 artists from different parts of the world, whose works explore the various forms of metamorphosis as well as the relationship between art and life.
In developing works specially commissioned for this edition, Monticelli, Lamonier and Garcia’s artistic practices evoke both the intimacy of microhistories and the utopias and dystopias of the present, suggesting that change is a constant, whether physical or symbolic.
