Opening this Saturday at Instituto Moreira Salles São Paulo the exhibition “Carolina Maria de Jesus, a Brazil for Brazilians” – dedicated to the literary production of the celebrated writer and artist from Minas Gerais, a key figure to understand the country.
The show will display photographs, manuscripts, videos and documents, as well as works from 60 artists who are connected with Carolina’s production and thought.
Among the selected artists, two of them are represented by Portas Vilaseca Galeria. Mulambö will bring three works, including “Entre o alvo e o fogo” (2019) – highlighted above – which deals with the diaspora and the non-place. “Bandeira Mulamba – golden edition II” and “Entrada de Serviço” will also be shown – two works that have been commissioned exclusively for the exhibition. On the other hand, Ayrson Heráclito presents three works that are part of his series “Drawings of Freedom“, in which he creates poetic interventions through portraits and drawings using ink markers on documents that attest to the process of liberation.
Curated by anthropologist Hélio Menezes and historian Raquel Barreto, the show runs until January 2022. Don’t miss it!
