FEATURING WORKS BY MULAMBÖ, SAMBA SCHOOL GRANDE RIO DEBUTS AT THE MUSEUM

The Rio Art Museum – MAR presents the exhibition “Laroyê, Grande Rio”, which brings together costumes, sculptures, allegorical elements and behind-the-scenes footage from samba school Acadêmicos do Grande Rio 2022 award-winning carnival parade.

Curated by Leonardo Antan, Luise Campos and Thomas Reis, the show also presents works by guest artists who served as inspiration for the development of the theme “Fala, Majeté! The Seven Keys of Exu”, signed by carnival artistic directors Gabriel Haddad and Leonardo Bora.

Mulambö – who also participated in the parade (see video below) – presents two of his most iconic works: the broom stylized as an Exu trident and the “Mulamba Flag”  – reappropriated as a banner for the flag bearer’s kids group (see pictures gallery).
