Artists Nádia Taquary and Randolpho Lamonier are taking part in the group exhibition “Apocalypse”, opening this Friday, the 8th, at Casa França Brasil in Rio de Janeiro. Organised by Instituto Comadre and curated by Gabriela Davies and Maíra Marques, the exhibition offers a symbolic and contemporary interpretation of the biblical book of the same name, exploring universal and timeless questions of morality, power, and transcendence. According to the curators, it is not a literal interpretation of the canonical text but an invitation to reflect on the tensions present in our society today.
Lamonier presents a collection of recent works that explores the nuances and dynamics of human relationships from a queer perspective. Highlights in the gallery below include small-format works from the series “Tropicália Lixo Lógico”, intertwining themes of affection, identity, religion, power, mass culture, and capitalism. Taquary, on the other hand, showcases “Insondável Mistério”, a large-scale work made of glass beads, evoking the creative feminine as a force of balance and resilience.
“Apocalypse” is part of the G20 cultural events circuit and will be on view until 1 December. Free admission, visiting times from Tuesdays to Sundays, 10 am – 5 pm
