On display from 20 August 2021 at Sesc Sorocaba is the 3rd Frestas – Trienal de Artes, which brings together 53 artists and collectives of different nationalities and multiple practices.
One of the highlights is our represented artist Pedro Victor Brandão, who take s part in this edition with three works: the painting “Untitled #23“, taken from his series “Totalities” (see gallery below), which presents data on indebtedness and default rates in Brazil; the sound installation “Era o Mercado“, from the series “Detremura“, made from text and audio generated by machine learning; and the budget performance “Untitled #0“, from the 50x series, an experiment aimed at settling individual debts within 36 months.
Entitled “The river is a serpent“, Frestas 2021 seeks to bring to the center of the debate issues about access economies, politics and poetics of exhibition, as well as investigating which solidarity strategies are possible, and what is said by the bodies that, inhabiting asymmetric power structures, produce an immense world outside the world.
Curated by Beatriz Lemos, Diane Lima and Thiago de Paula Souza, the show runs till 30.01.2022
