We are pleased to present in the 12th edition of ArtRio an exclusive selection of works by some of our represented artists, featuring new works by Ayrson Heráclito, Carolina Martinez, Déborah Engel, Élle de Bernardini, Gabriel Secchin, Gustavo Nazareno , Ismael Monticelli, Julia Debasse, Lin Lima and Zé Carlos Garcia; and also works from our collection by artists Ana Hupe, Claudia Hersz, Íris Helena, Mai-Britt Wolthers, Mano Penalva, Mulambö, Pedro Victor Brandão and Rafael Baron.
Two guest artists will also present works for the first time in the fair – Arthur Palhano and Sylvana Lobo.
In this 12th edition of the fair, we have taken Ismael Monticelli’s painting “Palimpsest” as a starting point to design our booth, which will bring together multiple languages, techniques and supports. The presentation of the works will be guided by the presence of layers that reveal the matter in movement and transformation, moving across borders between utopia and dystopia, between the sacred and the profane.
Recognized as one of the great art events in Latin America, ArtRio brings together the main galleries in the country. For the first time, the fair will organize the galleries into two pavilions, entitled Sea and Earth, a reference to the location of each one in Marina da Glória.
The Sea Pavilion will occupy the Marina da Glória Esplanada – the name is an allusion to the postcard view of the Guanabara Bay – and will be dedicated to special projects. It will include the following programs: VISTA, for galleries under 10 years old; SOLO, with booths dedicated to a single artist – curated by collector Ademar Britto; EXPANSION, which brings together institutions, social projects and publishers; and MIRA, a program curated by Victor Gorgulho that will feature daily video art projections.
The gallery booths can be visited at the Earth Pavilion, an internal area of Marina da Glória, exclusively dedicated to the PANORAMA program, which features the most important Brazilian galleries.
