On February 2nd, the collective exhibition “Fissura” [Crack] inaugurates Portas Vilaseca Galeria annual calendar bringing together 30 works, among paintings and drawings, by 11 contemporary artists, 3 of them represented by the gallery – Gabriel Secchin, Julia Debasse and Raquel Nava; and 8 guest artists – Alvaro Seixas, Andrew Silva, Bel Petri, Joana Uchôa, Larissa Cardoso, Sylvana Lobo, Tainan Cabral and Victor Mattina.
The selected works somehow lead to the exhibition’s title. “Fissura“, among other things, refers to a carnal, bestial pictorial desire, something that echoes within this summer heat. It also refers to addiction, to an anxiety to consume images, an urgent desire to look. From another perspective, “fissura” can be a gap, separating those who do from what they do, an uncertainty between one and the other, diluted along with the paint in multiple existences.
In common, the works are crossed by the figurative, which is either dissolved or evaporated in a particular psychedelia, or resists crystallized in fictitious landscapes.
“Fissura” runs until February 19, and visiting times (respecting all WHO protocols) are from Tuesdays to Fridays (11 am – 7 pm); and Saturdays (11 am – 5 pm). Free admission.
