After a period in residence at the Hestia / Art Residency & Exhibitions Bureau in Belgrade, Serbia, artist Randolpho Lamonier is presenting a new body of work created especially for the 60th October Salon, one of Serbia’s most important cultural events, which will open this Sunday, October 20, in various cultural venues in the capital, Belgrade. Founded in 1960, the October Salon was created to exhibit works by artists from the Republic of Serbia, always starting on October 20, in celebration of the liberation of the city after World War II. Over time, the event has grown in format and relevance, becoming an international reference on the art scene in Balkan region. At the present, the Salon’s main objective is to present the most significant productions of contemporary art, both local and international, always reinventing itself and reflecting the most urgent challenges of our times, while revealing new generations of artists.
This 60th edition, entitled “Šta ostaje? / What’s left?”, was conceived from 3 curatorial concepts. Lamonier participates in the “Aesthetic(s) of Encounter(s)” section, which is curated by Matthieu Lelièvre, curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lyon, in collaboration with Maja Kolaric, director of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade.
The 60th October Salon runs until December, 1st.
