During the 19th edition of SP-Arte, Pinacoteca de São Paulo obtained donations of important works for its institutional collection of Brazilian art, including the painting “Untitled” (2023), by artist Kika Carvalho, represented by Portas Vilaseca Galeria . The painting was one of the 6 acquisitions by Pina at the fair, thanks to contributions from museum supporters.
Recently nominated for the Pipa 2023 Prize, the artist from Espírito Santo – based in Rio de Janeiro – presented her first solo show at Portas Vilaseca in 2022 – “On the promises we made” – featuring a critical text by curator Marcelo Campos. Recently, she has participated in important group exhibitions, including: “The Dance“, Luce Gallery, Turim, Italy (2023); “Um defeito de cor”, at Museu de Arte do Rio – MAR, Rio de Janeiro, RJ (2022-2023), for which she developed two commissioned works; “Crónicas Crónicas“, Museu de Arte do Rio – MAR, Rio de Janeiro, RJ (2021-2022); “Outros Ensaios para o Tempo“, curated by Deri Andrade, Galeria Nara Roesler São Paulo, among others.
