Our represented artist Zé Carlos Garcia takes part in the exhibition “Images that do not conform“, on display at MAR – Museu de Arte do Rio unitl October 2021.
The artist presents two works: “Pássaro” (2010) and “Besta Quadrada” (2017), evident examples of his research and practice around sculptural objects and the creation of hybrid bodies filled with aesthetic and allegorical power.
Occupying one of the galleries on the 2nd floor of the museum’s Exhibition Pavilion, the collective show seeks to renew the meanings of the pieces from the collection of the Brazilian Historical and Geographic Institute (IHGB) to interrogate, from an artistic perspectice, the views on the history of Brazil, proposing a dialogue with contemporary art works. Curated by Marcelo Campos and Paulo Knauss, “Images that don’t conform” brings together about 200 items, including photographs, manuscripts, paintings, posters, sculptures and videos.
