Zé Carlos Garcia is taking part in the group show ‘Terra Comum“, which opens this Thursday (19) at the Z42 space in Rio de Janeiro. Curated by Lucas Albuquerque, the exhibition brings together seven artists who, in the particularities of their work, explore a symbiosis between human, mineral and plant agencies – creations that emerge from listening attentively to the earth and the living matter that covers it.
Garcia is presenting two works from his most recent production, “Caninana“, “Peixe Carranca” and “Anjo” (see gallery below), sculptures that bear his signature: hybrid beings with strong aesthetic and allegorical power, the result of a cultural amalgamation and the mixing of peoples that shape Brazil.
‘Terra Comun” is on view until 29 September. The Z42 space is located in Cosme Velho – Rua Filinto de Almeida, 42 – and admission is free.
