Her artistic practice is centred on recovering hidden stories of resistance, which are rewritten in installations with multiple narratives. Based on extensive research, Hupe’s approach aims to construct counter-memories to colonial archives. Her production encompasses a diversity of techniques and media, including photography, video, writing, printmaking and sculpture, and is consistently marked by an opposition to the idea of a singular narrative..
In recent years, Hupe has taken part in important artistic residencies in Brazil and abroad, including: Kobomojé Residency, Ibadan, Nigeria (2024); Artist x Artist, Havana, Cuba (2018); Vila Sul Residency, Goethe-Institut, Salvador, BA, Brazil (2018), among others. More recenetly, in 2024, she participated in the 2nd Ouidah Biennale, in Benin.

In the Hinterlands the stone cannot teach,
And if it did, it wouldn’t teach anything;
There one does not learn the stone, there the stone,
A birth stone, is buried within the soul.
