Gustavo Nazareno’s solo show “Bará” – currently on display at the Museu Afro Brasil Emanoel Araujo – has been extended until January 7th, 2024.

Curated by Deri Andrade, the exhibition brings together around 130 works – including oil paintings and charcoal drawings – and reflects the artist’s most recent research, which is based on a Renaissance framework and an interest in the epistemologies of the Orixás, in particular a quality of Exu – Elegbara.

Andrade comments: “In addition to a religious issue, Gustavo Nazareno creates images that tell a story based on the fables he writes, having as a starting point referencing these entities, with respect and great beauty, building a new imagery for them”.

Visiing times are: Tues – Sun (10 am to 6 pm). On December 24th, 25th, 31st and January 1st, the museum will be closed. Admission is free on Wednesdays.
