SILVANA MENDES TAKES PART IN EXHIBITION HONOURING THE LEGACY OF LÉLIA GONZALEZ

03.19.2025
Silvana Mendes is taking part in the exhibition ‘Ladino-Amefricanas’, which brings together works by black artists from Latin America and the Caribbean at Sesc Nova Iguaçu – opening this Saturday.
Inspired by the thoughts of intellectual Lélia Gonzalez (who would have turned 90 years old in 2025) and curated by Carolina Rodrigues and co-curated by Ana Carla Soler and Francela Carrera, the show features 23 works by ten artists and the Argentinian afro-feminist collective Kukily.
Silvana will show two works from her series ‘Afectionate Collages: Reconstructing Visual Narratives of Black People in Colonial Photography’ (featured in the album). Also taking part in the show are artists: Aline Motta, Andrea Hygino, Ayra Aziza, Eneida Sanches, Jade Maria Zimbra, Lidia Lisboa, Lila Deva, Renata Felinto and Yéssica Montero.
The exhibition is a project of the Instituto Artistas Latinas and runs until 22 June.
